After a good night's rest and satisfying breakfast, we will embark on our journey to one of Tanzania's national park gems - Tarangire National Park. It is about 2.5 hrs to the national park gate. We will spend the rest of the day on an exciting game drive with a picnic lunch.

Tarangire is renowned for its elephants and baobab trees. It is named for the river that runs the length of the national park providing life-giving water for the surrounding ecosystem. On our game drives it is quite likely we will see zebras, giraffes, impalas, elephants, buffalo, warthogs, vervet monkeys, baboons, as well as a sampling of the over 500 bird species that call this scenic park home. Of the predators, lions and hyenas are the most abundant, though the park is also home to leopards, jackals, and other small predators.

Before it gets dark, we will find our way to the Kati Kati Tented Camp for our 2-night stay.

A full day game drive to see the diverse landscapes across the park.

June to November is the dry season when one can expect to see large herds of zebra, wildebeest and cape buffalo gathering around the river.

After checking out, we will enjoy a morning game drive before heading out to the Ngorongoro Highlands. Along the way, we will pass through Mto wa Mbu, a lively market town on the shore of Lake Manyara at the base of the East Africa Rift System escarpment. We will climb the nearly 800 ft escarpment with sweeping views of Lake Manyara and then travel through the rich farmland of the lower Ngorongoro Highlands until we reach the Ngorongoro Farmhouse - a lovely lodge with expansive gardens in which bright flowers and organic vegetables are cultivated lined with banana trees and a small coffee plantation. Enjoy Happy Hour on the trimmed lawn before being seated on the veranda for a delicious dinner of culinary delights. Rest early, we have a big day in front of us!

Time to rinse off the safari dust in the beautiful Indian Ocean! After a good night's rest at the historic Tembo Hotel, we will meet our dive boat for a 2-tank dive outing to Bawe Island - known for its vast coral landscape and interesting sea life. These dives will be relatively shallow and chill - the perfect way to start the day! For the non-divers, we can plan an outing to Prison Island and tortoise Sanctuary or you can join the dive boat for easy snorkeling or relax and take in the Swahili hospitality of Old StoneTown.

After diving, we will have time for a quick clean-up before transiting over to the northeast side of the island - about a 1.5 hr scenic drive - where we will check-in to Villa Kiva in Matemwe - our home for the next 4 nights. Once checked-in, enjoy a late afternoon walk on the gorgeous white sand beach that stretches more than 10 kms or take a nap under one of the beachfront umbrellas.

Today's diving with be on the southwestern corner of the Mnemba Atoll, a short boat ride from Matemwe or Muyuni. The dive sites in this area range from relatively shallow rocky walls to coral garden slopes to sandy slopes with isolated bommies that extend to the depths. The fish life is abundant and the rocky, rubbly reef is teeming with unique Indian Ocean fauna. Diving is usually easy and chill, though it can shift to drift dives as the tide changes.

The non-divers can choose to join the divers on the dhow to snorkel in the shallows of Mnemba Atoll or from one of the land-based activities such as a visit to Jozani Forest or a Spice Farm.

Non-divers have the option to visit another of the land-based activities or walk to the barrier reef at low tide or relax with a lovely cup of cappuccino.

After diving activities for all are optional.

Last day of diving with a choice of returning to Mnemba Atoll or, conditions permitting, doing 2-tank dives at Tumbatu out of Kendwa on the northern end of Zanzibar. There is an incremental fee for diving Tumbatu due to the additional transit requirements and there is a 4-diver minimum.

Time to check-out from Villa Kiva and transit to StoneTown. All guests will be escorted to the ZAN airport for departure times with plenty of time to check-in. If departure times are late in the day, guests have the option of taking a guided walking tour of Old StoneTown (about 2-2.5 hrs). A dayroom will be available for freshening up before departing for the airport. If taking part in the walking tour, luggage will be securely stored in order for the day to be enjoyed unencumbered.
